Policies
Students must be enrolled in CVA prior to the first day of our school year in order to receive full credit. Students enrolling after the beginning of the school year may, under certain circumstances, receive credit for work completed prior to enrollment by submitting appropriate records for approval by the CVA administration. When enrolling with CVA, DO NOT send a letter of intent to homeschool to the County Superintendent -- CVA is a private school. Records and Acceptance All CVA records are kept confidential and will only be released upon receiving a written request from the parent, legal guardian, or a school official of the student. Upon receipt and acceptance of your completed application and transfer request, CVA will send the transfer request for your child's records to the last school they attended. (It takes approximately four to six weeks to receive records from a previous school.) There is a $300.00 fee for each year of verification if no official transcript from another public or private school is rendered. We will require all students receiving a grade of "D" or below on any course semesters being transferred from another school to repeat that course's semester before receiving credit at CVA. All fees must be paid in full, attendance records and grades must be complete and turned in up to the date of transfer in order for CVA to release the records of a student. Christian Victory Academy of Central Florida, Inc. admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate in the administration of its educational policies, athletic, and other school administrative programs. Requesting Transcripts Transcripts of grades are provided upon request for grades 9 through 12 at a cost of $10.00 per transcript. Copies of records for grades K through 8 are $1.00 per page. When requesting a transcript, please send in a self-addressed, stamped envelope with the fee. Fees and Refunds All fees shall be paid in full at the time of application, unless other arrangements have been made with the administrator of the school. There will be no refunds for application fee, tests, tuition (if CVA classes have begun), registration for classes, or pre-registered planned events. All fees must be paid by May 7th. Change of Address Our records MUST be kept current. If you have moved, have changed your email address, or have changed your telephone number; please fill-out the Contact Information Update Form and submit it to us immediately. Attendance Requirements Although registration is open year round, our school year begins July 1st and runs through June 30th. During the school year, each child is required to attend a minimum of 180 days of school. We strongly recommend that at least four (4) hours per day of school work be done; students are not limited to textbooks or on-site studies. Credit may be given for field trips and other family learning activities, such as CVA sponsored seminars, visits to historic museums, libraries, etc. Monthly Attendance and 90-Day Semester Reports Each family is required to submit a Monthly Attendance Report stating the days attended and days absent. Grades are to be reported on the 90 Day Semester Report in accordance with instructions on the form. All reports are due in the CVA office by the 7th of each month. Any report that is not in the office by the required date will have a $15.00 per child late fee. Your late fee MUST accompany any late reports. After three (3) consecutive months of missing reports, CVA will withdraw your children from the school. We must be strict on student reports, to maintain our compliance with Florida Department of Education requirements and our accreditation. CVA reserves the right to review any student's work in order to verify grades or credits. At our discretion, we may require students receiving a course grade of "D" or below for any semester to repeat that course's semester before receiving credit. Telephone Support Telephone support is given to each family enrolled with CVA. If you call our office and receive the answering machine, please leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible. A staff member will be in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Dual Enrollment for Students The parents are responsible for providing CVA with a copy of their student's grades and course code numbers from the college. For record keeping purposes, it is necessary for us to receive the student's course schedule (including course code numbers) at the beginning of the semester, as well as the grade report at the completion of the semester. The highest GPA a student may receive for taking college, AP, and honor course remains at 4.0. Bible Curriculum All students are required to do a Bible Study or course every year as part of their school curriculum. At this time, CVA recognizes the following translations of the Bible for Bible teaching: The New King James, King James, New American Standard, Amplified, and New International Version. Sunday School attendance and regular church led Bible Classes, although recommended, do not fulfill the Bible Curriculum requirements of CVA. | ||||
