Course Descriptions
| Algebra I |
This unique elective for 8th grade will replace the core 8th grade math course. If the student passes this course with a "C" or above then they will recieve high school credit for the course.
Throughout this online course, students are guided through the basics of algebra with lessons that focus on functions, linear equations, compound inequalities, exponential expressions, radicals, monomials, trinomials, polynomials, and quadratics. Students are encouraged to use various types of reasoning to formulate and evaluate math problems and solutions. Rooted in fundamentals, this course prepares students for higher-level math concepts. The course units include text-based lessons, on and off-computer exercises, special projects, learning games, quizzes, and tests that appeal to today's digital generation

Students may elect to take this course in 7th through 12th grade.
Students explore the history, culture, and the passion of America through this interactive literature course that features the writings of key colonial figures, romantic poets, the naturalists, and writers from the modern and post-modern age. A number of literary forms are interspersed throughout the course including essays, novels, poetry, and even spirituals passed down by the slaves. Students will examine not only the genres, the movements that fueled literature in this country. Students may elect to take this course in 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th grade.
Personal health, wellness, and safety are the focus of this introduction to health basics created just for students in grades 4-7. Presented from a Christian worldview, students are encouraged to be good stewards of their bodies through healthy eating, keeping their bodies in fit, practicing good hygiene, and protecting themselves from dangers in the environment. Students will also be introduced to the basics of human anatomy.
